WordPress.com and Safari 5 are really no friends!

Today Apple released Safari 5 for Mac and for Windows.

I installed it instantly and after a reboot all seems running fine. (Yep! You have to reboot a Mac if you install a browser! :) ) It feels a little faster and the Reader option is really fantastic! Also none of the visited websites so far had any problems or Safari 5 has no problems with this sides. :)

Only WordPress.com seems to have some more problems.
With Safari 4 the editor in the backend to write blog posts didn’t support all features that are supported so far and working with Firefox 3.6. There where some limitations with link insertion and also image and media insertion doesn’t worked correctly.

But now with Safari 5, I thought I give WordPress.com another try since this browser is my main browser on the Mac – I only use Firefox for writing blog posts and developing in Ares.

And I must really say, it’s even worse as before.

You can’t use the editor in any way, I can type a title, but as soon as I try to write some content in the text box I get no cursor and I also cannot type any single letter. The things that didn’t worked with Safari 4 I mentioned above also not working or working the same way as with the old one.

Also the Dashboard Stats side doesn’t work fully, the little graph on the right upper side (if you hadn’t customized it) isn’t shown, the Blog stat are working but not that tiny little overview graph.

I know that WordPress.com recommends Firefox as browser, but to be honest, the editor should work in any other browser also. To be honest, I’m not sure if this is Safari’s fault or not, but since this browsers flawlessly with all other websites I’ve used so far for today, I blame WordPress.com for that.

Did you notice any mysterious behavior with Safari 5 so far?
