Still interested in new Touchpad apps? Let me know!

Standard

I stopped development of new apps for webOS a while ago because of the unknown future. To be clear, that does not mean that I dropped support of all my available webOS apps. I still fix bugs and help you if you have problems or found a bug. So support is still here and won’t get dropped.

But at that time I started developing a new app and put some hours of work in it already.

The App is a Twitter client that will be completely different to all the other clients currently available on the platform. It focuses on readability and a really beautiful design. And be sure there will be not much blue in it ;)

It is still a lot to be done before I can release it, but for now all I want to know is, do you think there is still a need for “another” Twitter client on webOS or do you think that there are already enough out there? Or maybe you switched already to another platform?

Just let me know and if you want that this project continues please spread the word and let me know what you think so far.

  1. still using the touchpad and pre3 over here. Lack of good apps is becoming worse every day. I’m trying to keep using webOS until we can love on with it in open source… So new app are really welcome! Greetings from bilzen, belgium

  2. I think there is a need. With carbon gone the next best twitter app us macaw. After that there is some nice ones like sparrow but I was not sold on it. I say go for it I will buy. Hopefully TP and pre3 versions?

    • I’m not sure about a Pre3 version yet, that amount of extra coding is maybe huge and there are only a few Pre3 users out there compared to Touchpad users. I for myself own a Pre3 so maybe I think about it, but no promises :)

      • I thougt you were planning to build a twitterclient that would be able to sync between TouchPad en Pre (3)? Especially the Pre3, because I own one and a TouchPad ;-) @Pre2Ries

      • This is still on my todo list, no worries.
I currently switch the project completely to a Enyo 2 codebase, as I started a while ago with Enyo1.
I hope this performs good enough on Pre3 devices.
Can’t test this properly without porting the project and testing it on my own Pre3.

  3. Let me just preface my reply by saying that I’m a longtime Palm fan starting with a Palm III and I currently have a Pre 3 and a Touchpad…
…but much as I love WebOS, I’m no longer investing in it. I’ve bought a Motorola XOOM 2 and I’ve installed the CyanogenMod on the Touchpad.
Android has just so much more software but what I do miss is the elegance of the WebOS app, especially the Enyo panes. I’d suggest that you develop the client so that it can be easily deployed to both Android and WebOS platforms.
(Or else change your plans to bring cards to Android.)

  4. Yes!
I am still not fully happy with the available twitter clients on webOS.
And if the TouchPad app could sync with the phone (Pre3) app, it would be the Nirvana.
And I am still ready to perform french translations for your apps.

  5. Of course !
I use carbon on my Pre2 and spaz HD on my touchpad.
And a french translation should be great !

  6. Hi.
We definitely need great developers like you working on our beloved webos devices. I still love my touchpad (and my veer, of course), and after many years Webos is still a winner when we talk about usability and multitasking. We will be supporting you in your future projects.. guaranteed!

    • Development came a bit to short in the last few weeks. But now its getting colder outside and winter is coming I can put more time into developing apps. And of course I will support webOS because I still use and love my Touchpad. :-)
